Many users who just recently bought Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 struggling an issue when tried to connect the phone to the PC to access the SD card though, and somehow it didn’t really work. An error message appears "Android MTP Failed!".
Some few tips below might help you to the task and managed to access the phone’s internal SD card on PC. Just ensure that you have already installed necessary drivers for your Samsung Galaxy S2 or install KIES on your PC.
Here's how,
-Enable usb debugging from Menu > Settings > Applications
-return to home screen
-plug usb cable in
-pull down status bar
-press ‘ connect usb storage’ button
or try this method:
Alternatively, without USB debugging enabled
Go to Settings > Wireless & Network > USB utilities and click the button > then (and ONLY then) plug in USB cable
Hope this helps...

I applied all the tricks I could find in the Internet. None worked. But when I turned on "connect usb storage" and then turned it off, adb suddenly recognized the device!
ReplyDeleteDon't know why but it worked and might help other looking for help regarding the same issue.
Note: THIS IS ONLY FOR ANDROID DEVELOPERS.

ReplyDeleteIf for some reason your phone stops being seen in Windows (in the device manager you've got lots of unrecognized devices), try this out, it saved me:
ReplyDeleteBefore connecting the phone, open the keypad and dial *#7284#
you will see a menu for UART and USB.
Under USB, select PDA. If PDA is already selected, select MODEM and then back to PDA
Connect: everything works again. Wonder why the phone sometimes blows a fuse...
i also get charging but "usb device not recognized"
ReplyDeletetried *#7284# no luck.
pulled the phone apart solderjoints look good on the usbmicro
is this a hardware issue????

I had a problem connection the S2 to a laptop. It used to work, but today it didn't. The laptop/S2 just didn't connect, no errors either side.
ReplyDeleteIt turned out that the USB cable was the problem. I used the one that came with my LG phone, failed. Then I tried the one that came with the S2, worked. Even though the cables "look" identical, clearly they are not actually the same.
BTW, I used the second method "Go to Settings > Wireless & Network > USB utilities and click the button > then (and ONLY then) plug in USB cable"
IY's method works for me ^^
