It is driving me mad! Any suggestions? I have tried the debugging and the straight connection - they don't work! HELP please!

  11. Thanks so much. I wasn't actually looking for USB storage, infact quite the opposite. I was trying to connect my phone in development mode. It worked before but somehow stopped working. I applied all the tricks I could find in the Internet. None worked. But when I turned on "connect usb storage" and then turned it off, adb suddenly recognized the device!
Don't know why but it worked and might help other looking for help regarding the same issue.
Note: THIS IS ONLY FOR ANDROID DEVELOPERS.

Plug phone into computer, phones makings pinging sound and starts charging.

beyond that, it is impossible to make windows 7 even see the device on USB. "Cable is connected! Disconnect!" followed by, "Connect cable!" ..

    Pretty silly.

  28. If for some reason your phone stops being seen in Windows (in the device manager you've got lots of unrecognized devices), try this out, it saved me:
Before connecting the phone, open the keypad and dial *#7284#
you will see a menu for UART and USB.
Under USB, select PDA. If PDA is already selected, select MODEM and then back to PDA
Connect: everything works again. Wonder why the phone sometimes blows a fuse...

  29. i also get charging but "usb device not recognized"
    tried *#7284# no luck.
pulled the phone apart solderjoints look good on the usbmicro
    is this a hardware issue????

  31. I had a problem connection the S2 to a laptop. It used to work, but today it didn't. The laptop/S2 just didn't connect, no errors either side.

It turned out that the USB cable was the problem. I used the one that came with my LG phone, failed. Then I tried the one that came with the S2, worked. Even though the cables "look" identical, clearly they are not actually the same.

BTW, I used the second method "Go to Settings > Wireless & Network > USB utilities and click the button > then (and ONLY then) plug in USB cable"
